Measurement Uncertainty 1 (ENC-MEA10H)

Description

Measurement Uncertainty in practice - Basic Seminar

Indispensable for all those who measure: In this seminar you will learn to recognise and quantify all influencing variables relevant to measurement uncertainty.

Only with a reliably determined measurement uncertainty your measured value will become a meaningful measurement result. In this seminar you will learn all the necessary steps you need to assess, to calculate and to state the measurement uncertainty in accordance with the standards. The first and most demanding step is to precisely analyse the tolerances contributing to the measurement uncertainty. These tolerances originate, for example, from the sensor technology, the measurement amplifier or the measurement process itself. With this knowledge, you will be able to calculate the measurement uncertainty correctly according to the corresponding GUM guideline and to state it in accordance with the standard.

Using real examples with mechanic quantities, you will familiarise yourself with the topic of : from the most important influencing variables to the appropriate way of calculation. Our experienced trainers will introduce you to the topic, and in many practical exercises you will develop a deep understanding of measurement uncertainty. We would be glad also to discuss your measurement task, data sheets or calibration certificates together with the group. We set a high value to dialogue between participants and trainer.

Topics included

  • Definition and significance of measurement uncertainty
  • Statistical basics
  • Systematic and random measurement deviations
  • Assessments of data sheet specifications
  • Calculation methods A and B according to GUM
  • ExercisesTi and discussions based on examples with predominantly mechanic quantities
  • Tips & tricks from practice for practice

Target Group

Measurement technicians who plan and carry out measurements independently, as well as users who evaluate the measurement results.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of measurement technology is helpful
